Thanks to someone who does not want his name published, I received a bunch of strings free of charge that I can write a review about. I have already done the Blueprint first impression review, now I am working on reviews for the YoyoStringLab Type X, Ammo, and Venom. First off? The Type X strings.
About:
I actually do not know anything about YoyoStringLab other than the fact that they are a company that makes strings. I believe they have a small clothing line as well, but I am not positive about this fact.
Review:
This string is really similar to Kitty Fat, in my opinion. If I was unaware of the fact that I was throwing something new, this would be my guess as to what string I was using. However, they are a few differences if you really think about it. Type X strings feel a tiny bit thinner, but have a strangely heavier weight to them. One major difference between Type X and Kitty Fat, though, is that Type X holds its tension better than Kitty Fat.
As I was writing this review, I had to get a Kitty Fat string out and play it, swapping back and forth with the Type X and looking closely at the two. To tell the difference is not really hard if you look really closely. These Type X strings look more "wire-y" (I have no idea how to describe it) and the yellow of the Type X appears slightly brighter than the Kitty Fat Neon Yellow (Kitty Fat Yellow is totally different looking).
After further throwing, I discovered that these strings play almost exactly like Rad Normal strings. Just the soft feel and everything else is really similar. There are differences, but I will not go through them right now.
Conclusion:
Overall, these strings are really nice and I will definitely think about getting some to use on a consistent basis. I would not consider these my favorite strings. At least, they have not grown on me yet like most strings I have tried end up doing.
I will be writing a full-length review on these (and all my other new strings) after I have gone through a few and have gotten a great feel for them.
Thanks for reading,
Paul
